Sedgefield win the Girls' Indoor League

Sedgefield’s U13 Girls claimed the victory in the debut DCB U13 Girls’ Indoor League following a close final against Shotley Bridge Cricket Club yesterday.


Sedgefield and Shotley Bridge staged a tense deciding game to draw at 207, with Sedgefield winning by losing fewer wickets – six in comparison to eight for Shotley.

England Cricketer Danielle Hazell, who has just returned to the North East from England Women’s One-Day International Series against the West Indies, presented the trophy to the winning Sedgefield.


Sedgefield and Shotley Bridge reached the deciding game by prevailing over Tudhoe CC and Crook CC in the semis respectively.


In the final Sedgefield and Shotley Bridge played an even game to demonstrate an outstanding level of cricket. As the overs were done, the two teams ended up drawing at 207 and the winner was decided by the number of wickets taken.


Sedgefield, who had taken eight wickets – two more than Shotley Bridge, were pronounced Indoor U13 Girls’ Champions.
